New Zealand will have all to play for as they lock horns against England in the third game of the four-match T20I series on Sunday, September 03 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The Tim Southee-led side lost the second game by a massive margin of 95 runs and went 0-2 behind in the series. After opting to bat first, England posted a monumental score of 198/4 in their allotted 20 overs courtesy of sensational innings from Jonny Bairstow (86 off 60) and Harry Brook (67 off 36).
In reply, the Kiwis were bundled out for just 103 as they failed to keep up with the required run-rate and kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. In the first game as well, the visitors lacked a big innings from one of their batters and could only manage to score 139/9. In the bowling department, Ish Sodhi is the leading wicket-taker with three wickets to his name from two games while skipper Southee has two wickets to his name.
Meanwhile, England will look to replicate their clinical performances from the first two games to seal the series. Brook has been the star with the bat for the hosts having 110 runs to his name from two matches. Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse have been the leading wicket-takers of the series with four wickets a piece.
The Jos Buttler-led side will hope to continue their good work in the upcoming fixture and take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series. On the other hand, New Zealand have the last chance to keep themselves alive in the series with the hope of tying it 2-2. The upcoming fixture will be a test of character for the entire team as they look to bounce back from back-to-back losses.
