Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are set to square off against Delhi Capitals (DC) in match 62 of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, May 12.
The Bengaluru-based franchise had a horrible start to their campaign winning only one out of their first eight games. But with some incredible performances from the players they have managed to win four games on the bounce against Sunrisers Hyderabad, twice against Gujarat Titans and once against Punjab Kings. Faf du Plessis and Co. currently sit at the seventh position in the points table with ten points under their belt from 12 games. With two of their league games left this season, the 2016 finalists will have to win all their remaining matches and hope that other results also go their way as they look to sneak into the playoffs.
Veteran batter Virat Kohli has been at his usual best and is yet again on the most runs list having scored 634 runs from 12 matches at an average of 70.44 and a strike rate of 153.51. He has already hit five half-centuries and a century. He is coming off a match-winning knock of 92 runs against Punjab Kings. The side has also found their other batters contributing consistently at the business end of the season. Indian batter Rajat Patidar and Australian all-rounder Cameron Green have found their form back. Patidar scored a half-century against PBKS while Green scored 46 runs.
RCB had high hopes from Mohammed Siraj, who was expected to spearhead the bowling attack. While he struggled to find his rhythm initially, his recent performances have been outstanding, contributing to the team's success. Despite playing 11 matches, Siraj has managed to claim only 11 wickets so far. Another bowler, Karn Sharma, has also been delivering impressive performances for the side.

On the other hand, Delhi are coming off a victory over Rajasthan Royals at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi by 20 runs. The Rishabh Pant-led side is still in contention for the playoffs with six wins and six losses from 12 games. However, they cannot afford slip-ups at this stage of the season as the top four spots are getting more intense every day.
Pant has been in excellent form for the Capitals in IPL 2024. It doesn't seem like the 26-year-old is playing competitive cricket for the first time in 14 months. In 12 matches, the wicketkeeper-batter has scored 413 runs at a strike rate of 156.43. The young Australian sensation, Jake Fraser-McGurk, has been a phenomenal addition for the Capitals. He has played some jaw-dropping knocks and has aggregated 309 runs from seven games at an average of 44.14 and a strike rate of 235.87.
Mukesh Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav have been the main pillars behind DC's bowling department. Mukesh has bagged 15 wickets from eight games at an average of 20.80. Meanwhile, Kuldeep has taken 14 wickets from nine matches at an average of 20.50 and an economy rate of 8.20.
RCB are currently placed at No. 7 on the points table, with five wins in 12 games. Meanwhile, DC is positioned at No. 5, having registered six wins and six losses so far in IPL 2024.
M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru Pitch Report:
There is a significant chance of rain and thunderstorms on the day of the match. As for the pitch conditions, the results have been evenly split between teams batting first and teams chasing, with three matches won by the teams batting second and two matches won by the teams batting first out of the five matches played this season. The team that wins the toss will look to bowl first.
RCB vs DC Probable Playing XI
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)
RCB yet again dropped the struggling Glenn Maxwell from their playing XI in their previous game against Punjab Kings. However, the change didn't impact the result of the game, as RCB won their fourth game in a row. Star batter Virat Kohli has been giving the best possible start to his side. In the last game, the veteran batter scored a match-winning 92 to guide his team to a giant total. Despite being in the seventh position on the points table, the Bengaluru franchise is still mathematically in contention for a playoff spot. The team will be aiming to extend it to four victories. Unless faced with a last-minute injury, the 2016 finalists are unlikely to make any changes to their playing XI.
Predicted XI: Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis (c), Will Jacks, Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Mahipal Lomror, Karn Sharma, Yash Dayal, Mohammed Siraj
Impact Player: Swapnil Singh

Delhi Capitals (DC)
The Delhi contingent will be very pleased with their batting department's performance in the last few games. Young Australian opener Jake Fraser-McGurk has helped DC climb the points table with several match-winning performances. Rishabh Pant has been banned for a match due to over rate violations. David Warner is expected to come back in replacing Shai Hope. Experienced leg spinner Kuldeep Yadav has been bowling beautifully in the middle. The DC camp at this stage of the season will not look to make any changes to their side unless any last-minute injury occurs.
Predicted XI: Jake Fraser-McGurk, Prithvi Shaw, David Warner (c), Ricky Bhui, Abhishek Porel (wk), Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mukesh Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Lizaad Williams
Impact Player: Rasikh Salam
