Australia (AUS) and Bangladesh (BAN) lock horns in match No. 43 of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Saturday, November 11.
Australia are on a six-match winning streak and have already reached the semi-finals. Bangladesh, on the other hand, have been eliminated but will look to secure a victory to stay in the top eight and qualify for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
Australia have six wins and two losses after playing eight games. Meanwhile, Bangladesh have also played eight games, having won two and lost six. The Aussies are coming off a memorable win against Afghanistan. Glenn Maxwell scored a double century to help his team chase down a target of 292 after being down and out at 91/7. The buoyant five-time champions have a lot of positives going their way. David Warner has been in sublime form as he is the fourth-highest run-getter in the tournament with 446 runs in eight games at 55.75. Adam Zampa is the second-highest wicket-taker with 20 scalps in eight games at 19.20.
The form of players like Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, and Marcus Stoinis would bother Australia but they are champion players and need just one good performance to turn things around.

Bangladesh made the headlines during their last game against Sri Lanka after Angelo Mathews' timed-out dismissal. Captain Shakib has been criticised by fans as well as critics for not withdrawing his appeal. Bangladesh would do well to not focus on the outside noise and think about getting one over the mighty Aussies. The Asian side was expected to do well in the tournament as they had strong performances in sub-continental conditions in the recent past. However, the form of senior players like captain Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Litton Das hurt them badly as they couldn't do justice to their potential. Mahmudullah has been the best batter for Bangladesh, scoring 296 runs in six innings at an average of 59.20.
No Bangladeshi bowler has managed to stand out. The experienced Mustafiqur Rahman has picked up just four wickets in seven games at an average of 80.50. To make matters worse, their skipper has been ruled out of the tournament with a finger injury.
AUS vs BAN Maharashtra Cricket Stadium Pitch Report
Four games have been played at this venue in the ODI World Cup 2023. The pitch has been exceptional for batting. Scores lesser than 300 have been chased down in a canter. However, South Africa and England comprehensively defeated New Zealand and the Netherlands, respectively, after posting totals well beyond 300. The team that decides to bat first should not look at anything under 300.
