To make it to the qualifiers of the Women’s Premier League 2024, UP Warriorz cannot afford to drop points when they challenge defending champions Mumbai Indians at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The Alyssa Healy-led side is currently fourth on the points table with four points in five matches while Mumbai have six points in five matches. A win over the defending champions may not help UP topple the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side on the table but it surely will put pressure on them.

When it comes to form, the skipper has led by example in their last match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Even though they ended up losing, Healy made 55 runs off 38 deliveries while Deepti Sharma and Poonam Khemmar did well towards the fag end. However, their bowling needs to improve significantly. Barring Sophie Ecclestone and Deepti Sharma, others have struggled, which is a bit concerning.

Mumbai, on the other hand, lost to Delhi Capitals in their last match. Their bowlers had a rough time in the middle against the likes of Meg Lanning and Jemimah Rodrigues but there were plenty of positives for them as well. Two uncapped players, Amonjot Kar and Sanjeevan Sajana played brilliantly, which kept Mumbai in the contest for the longest time. However, their top order collapsed on a good batting pitch, which is one area that the team needs to improve.

Arun Jaitley Stadium Pitch Report:

A flat track in Delhi will suit the batters massively. The nature of the surface has changed in recent times and helped the batter settle faster. Since the boundary is relatively small, a lot of runs are expected to be scored. The skipper winning the toss should bowl first as dew can play a part in the second innings.

Probable Playing XI:
UP Warriorz:

UP Warriorz may bring back Tahila McGrath into the playing XI. Chamari Athapaththu has failed to make a mark so far and that’s the change UP would tempted to make.

Predicted XI: Alyssa Healy (wk/c), Kiran Navgire, Tahlia McGrath, Grace Harris, Shweta Sehrawat, Deepti Sharma, Poonam Khemnar, Sophie Ecclestone, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Saima Thakor, Anjali Sarvani

Mumbai Indians Women:

Mumbai are unlikely to make any changes to their playing XI. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side has a good combination of Indian and foreign talent and a couple of good games can change the momentum, which is currently lacking.

Predicted XI: Hayley Matthews, Yastika Bhatia (wk), Nat Sciver-Brunt, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Amelia Kerr, Amanjot Kaur, Pooja Vastrakar, S Sajana, Shabnim Ismail, Humaira Kazi, Saika Ishaque
