Five-time champions Australia (AUS) lock horns with Bangladesh (BAN) in a dead rubber in match 43 of ODI World Cup 2023 on a doubleheader Saturday, November 11, at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. The Kangaroos have already qualified for the semi-finals while the Bangla Tigers are eliminated from the competition. Bangladesh will play for pride under the leadership of Najmul Hossain Shanto as Shakib Al Hasan is ruled out due to injury.
Speaking about Australia’s performance in the ongoing marquee tournament, they began their campaign with two defeats in their opening two fixtures against India and South Africa. Pat Cummins and his men then pulled up their socks to win the next six matches on the bounce. With 12 points, they have sealed the third position and will be playing South Africa in their semi-final clash on November 16 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
It has been another dismal ICC event for the Tigers as they have managed to win only two out of their eight games. The two victories came against Asian sides Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. The Kangaroos would look to keep their winning streak going ahead of the knockout stage while the Bangladeshi side will hope to end their campaign on a high by at least putting up a competitive and better show.
