The mini-Ashes battle is here as arch-rivals Australia and England are all set to face each other in Match 26 of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 on October 28 at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. The hosts Aussies are coming off at the back of a solid seven-wicket victory against Sri Lanka, thanks to a 17-ball brutal half-century from Marcus Stoinis.

Meanwhile, their opponents England suffered a setback in the campaign when they shockingly lost to Ireland by five runs (D/L method) in their last outing.

Talking about Australia’s comeback win against the Lankan Lions, they restricted Dasun Shanaka’s side to a total of 157/6 in 20 overs. Charith Asalanka’s unbeaten 38 off 25 helped the Asian team to go past the total of 150. In reply, David Warner bagged another low score in the competition as he fell for 11.

Skipper Aaron Finch just couldn’t get going in his innings and the Aussies were 89/3 after 12.2 overs. Then came the Stoinis assault as he smacked the fastest-ever T20I fifty by an Australian in just 17 deliveries.

With this, the defending champions opened their account in a one-sided affair at the end. On the other hand, Jos Buttler and his men would be looking to come back to winning ways against the Kangaroos as their match with table-toppers New Zealand is not far away. However, rain could play the spoilsport yet again as showers are forecasted for the matchday at the 'G'.
