Chloe Tryon's hat-trick inflicted a collapse of Sri Lanka Women as they ended up losing to South Africa Women in Match 6 of the Women's ODI Tri-Series 2025 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday, May 9. Tryon became the third South African to claim a hattrick in women's cricket after Dane van Niekerk (2013) and Masabata Klaas (2019).
Tryon, who had scored an aggressive 74 (51) earlier in the day, wrecked havoc with the ball in the 42nd over of the run-chase. Her victims included Dewmi Vihanga, Sugandika Kumari, and Malki Madara. The final three deliveries of the over were dot deliveries. Tryon's triple-wicket maiden crushed the hosts from having an outside chance to being down and out.
SA-W bundled SL-W for 239 in 42.5 overs. The all-rounder picked up her first five-wicket haul in international cricket, finishing with outstanding figures of 5/34 in eight overs. She was awarded the Player of the Match accolade for her all-round brilliance. This win marked South Africa's first in their final game of the tri-series.
