Mumbai Indians (MI) will travel to Delhi as they lock horns against Delhi Capitals (DC) in match number 16 of the Indian Premier League 2023 on 11th April 2023 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Mumbai Indians come into the contest after being hammered by two of their biggest rivals in the cash-rich league. They first lost their away game against RCB followed by a defeat in their home game against CSK. As far as the batting department is concerned, Tilak Varma has been the only positive for Mumbai Indians as in two games, he has aggregated 106 runs with an impressive average of 106 and a strike rate of 165.62.
Cameron Green, the player after whom MI went all-out in the auction, has not lived up to the expectations. He bagged 17.5 cr in the auction but has just scored 17 runs in two games. MI bowlers were taken to the cleaners in both the games as Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis toyed with them in the first game, while Ajinkya Rahane smashed the fastest fifty of IPL 2023 in MI’s second game. They would look to return improved performances in all departments so as to bounce back to the winning ways.
Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, come into the contest with similar numbers as that of their opponents; the only difference being that DC have played one game more than MI. With three losses in three games, DC are placed at the bottom of the IPL points table. No batter other than David Warner has stood up for them as Warner has been holding on to the team's sinking ship, aggregating 158 runs at an average of 52.67 with two half-centuries. Warner & Co. too would seek improved performances in their clash against Mumbai and will really need their big players to step up, if at all they need to go big in the tournament.
DC vs MI Head-to-Head Record:
Both teams have met on 32 occasions out of which, Mumbai Indians have been on the winning side 17 times and Delhi Capitals have won the remaining 15 games.

Strategy and Match-ups:
Rohit Sharma has a poor batting record against Axar Patel in IPL with the former managing to aggregate just 41 runs from 49 balls at an ordinary strike rate of 83.7. Axar Patel has dismissed Rohit Sharma twice in 8 innings of the IPL. In the powerplay, Rohit Sharma has faced Axar Patel in four innings and scored only 6 runs in 11 balls, besides getting dismissed once. Warner would be relying on Axar in the powerplay to tackle Rohit Sharma early on.
On a similar note, Mumbai Indians would rely on Jofra Archer to dismiss Warner in the powerplay. Archer has dismissed Warner twice in IPL in as many as 19 balls. 12 out of those 19 balls were dots, thus reinforcing Archer's dominance over Warner.
