After thumping Sri Lanka 3-0 (3), Rohit Sharma and his side now face New Zealand in a three-match one-day international series commencing from Wednesday, January 18th, 2023 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The second and the third matches will take place on the 21st and 24th in Raipur and Indore, respectively. Notably, the BlackCaps will also participate in a three-match T20I series followed by the ODIs.

Speaking about the Sri Lanka series, Virat Kohli looked like the Kohli of the past as he smashed two centuries in three outings and ended up as the highest run-scorer, with 283 in the series. The run-machine struck an unbeaten 166, his second-best score, in the dead rubber in Thiruvananthapuram as India registered the biggest victory in the format by a mammoth margin of 317 runs. Pacer Mohammed Siraj was also in great touch as he finished the series with the most wickets (nine) to his name.

The BlackCaps are coming on the back of a memorable ODI series victory against Pakistan, where they won 2-1 (3). Against India, they are without three of their star players Kane Williamson, Tim Southee, and Trent Boult but still are expected to provide tougher competition than Sri Lanka.
