India (IND) and New Zealand (NZ) lock horns against each other in the first semi-final of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on November 15.

Both India and New Zealand have met each other in ICC knock-outs three times. New Zealand have defeated India on all three occasions.

India come into the contest on the back of a dominant campaign so far, winning all nine games. They have not only won games but have done it in style. Virat Kohli has smashed the most runs, aggregating 594 runs, he also tops the run-charts for India, followed by Rohit Sharma, who has aggregated 503 runs, becoming just the second player in the history of single World Cup edition to score over 500+ runs for more than once and also the first player to achieve this feat on a consecutive world cup occasion.

Shreyas Iyer too has been among the runs as he scored three consecutive fifty-plus scores in his last three games. Their bowling performance has been the talk of the World Cup, all five bowlers have picked more than ten wickets in this World Cup with Jasprit Bumrah leading the chart with 17 scalps followed by Mohammed Shami with 16 wickets. India will look to continue their winning run and will be looking to hand New Zealand the taste of their own medicine.

New Zealand, on the other hand, will come into the game after a convincing victory against Sri Lanka in their final game. From winning the first four games to losing the next four despite some extraordinary batting display, to winning their last league game and grabbing their fifth consecutive semi-final spot sums up their journey.

They are among the most formidable teams when it comes to the World Cup and have the knack of winning games against the toughest of opposition. They toppled South Africa in ICC ODI World Cup 2011 while they did the same against India in the 2019 World Cup semi-finals and against England in the 2021 World T20 semi-finals.

Rachin Ravindra has been the find of the tournament having aggregated 565 runs at an average of over 70 while Mitchell Santner has been their leading wicket-taker with 16 wickets in nine games at an average of 24.88. New Zealand will look to topple the unbeaten India to reach yet another final.
