Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will entertain fans in match no. 27 of the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on a doubleheader Thursday, April 20 at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali in the afternoon 15.30 PM IST game. Kings and Royal Challengers will meet only once in the league stage of the ongoing competition.
The runners-up of the 2014 edition, PBKS have played five matches so far with three victories and two losses. After winning their opening two encounters against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), they suffered back-to-back defeats against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT).
PBKS returned to winning ways as they beat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their last outing. With six points and a net run rate (NRR) of -0.109, they are fifth on the IPL 2023 points table.
Meanwhile, RCB have also played five games with just two wins and three losses. After winning their opening clash with a bang against Mumbai Indians (MI), they lost two games on the bounce against KKR and LSG.
Faf du Plessis’s side managed to defeat Delhi Capitals (DC) in their fourth match before facing yet another defeat at the hands of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). With four points and a NRR of -0.318, they are eighth on the table (All scenarios till match No. 25). The visitors will be looking to move higher up in the table by claiming a win in Mohali.
