Mumbai Indians (MI) take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the penultimate match of the league phase of IPL 2023 on a doubleheader Sunday, May 21 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Rohit Sharma’s MI defeated Aiden Markram’s SRH by 14 runs when both sides met previously in the reverse fixture in Hyderabad. Match No. 69 is a must-win for MI as they hope to seal their place in the final four.
It’s been a mixed campaign for five-time IPL champions MI as they have played 13 games with seven victories and six defeats. With 14 points and a net run rate of -0.128, they are placed in the sixth position in the table. A win here would take Rohit’s side to 16 points but that would also not guarantee them a spot in the Playoffs.
They need other results to go their way in order to qualify for the next round. On the other hand, it’s been another poor season for the Orange Army as they have played 13 matches with just four wins and nine losses. With eight points, they are at rock bottom at the tenth position. The Sunrisers will look to spoil MI’s party and end the season on a positive note.
