The much awaited IPL 2023 Mini Auction has come to an end after some intense bidding among the franchises to rope in the players they wanted. The ten teams participated in the auction and bought as many as 80 players for a sum of 167 crore INR. A total of 29 overseas players were bought in the auction. The auction registered the top three biggest buys in the IPL History as expected in the form of Sam Curran (PBKS), Cameron Green (MI) and Ben Stokes (CSK). Seven Out of ten teams completed the quota of 25 players while rest of the teams were happy not to complete the slots.
All the numbers that were recorded during the IPL Mini Auction for the 2023 season:
18.50 – Sam Curran became the most expensive buy in the history of IPL as PBKS bought him for INR 18.5 crore. Cameron Green too was bought for 17.50 crore, which ended up being the second most expensive buy in IPL history.
16.25 – Ben Stokes was bought for whooping 16crores by CSK and became the most expensive buy for CSK in the history of IPL auction.
13.25 – Harry Brook became the most expensive bid for SRH in the history. Harry Brook was sold to SRH for 13.25 crore. Previous expensive buy for SRH in IPL Auction was Manish Pandey in the year 2018 for 11 crore.
3 – Ben Stokes became the first overseas player to cross 12 crore-mark thrice in IPL Auction History.
1 – This is the first time CSK has bought an overseas player for more than 10 crore.
167 – All 10 franchises combinedly spent a whopping INR 167 crore in the IPL 2023 auction.
80 – A total of 80 players were sold at the auction.
16 – Nicholas Pooran became the player with highet bid for a West Indies player in IPL history. He was bought by LSG for a whopping INR 16 crore.
