The 24th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was played between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. GT skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and invited RR to put runs on the scoreboard. Out-of-form batter Yashasvi Jaiswal tried hard as he smashed some boundaries but couldn’t stay on the pitch for too long and was dismissed after scoring 24 runs. Jos Buttler, who smashed a century in RR’s previous match, got out on just 8 runs.
However, skipper Sanju Samson and young batter Riyan Parag had different plans as they steadied the ship. They stitched a 130-run stand for the 3rd wicket and helped RR to put up a strong total in the first innings. Both the batters smashed a magnificent half-century as GT bowlers looked clueless. Parag went to the pavilion after a brilliant knock of 76 runs while Samson remained unbeaten on the score of 68. The fielding standards of GT were below average as there were multiple misfields and some catch drops as well due to which RR managed to put up a total of 196 runs.

Chasing the target, GT openers Gill and Sai Sudharsan started well as both stitched a 64-run stand together for the first wicket. However, after the dismissal of Sudharsan, the upcoming GT batters couldn’t stay long at the crease with the skipper and the 2022 IPL champion started losing wickets at regular intervals of time.
Gill played really well and tried to keep the one end safe. However, RR’s veteran spinner Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed him at the crucial stage of the innings. Gill departed after scoring 72 runs and it looked like the game was over for the visitors but Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan snatched the win from RR’s hand and handed them a 3-wicket loss.
