As they move to a new home stadium in Dharamsala, Punjab Kings will look to strengthen their already good position in the race to playoffs in IPL 2025. PBKS will host Lucknow Super Giants for Match No. 54 of this tournament.
PBKS beat Chennai Super Kings in their last match. That defeat confirmed CSK to be the first team to be eliminated from IPL 2025. The rest of the CSK line-up struggled to get going in Chennai, but Sam Curran defied all odds to put them in pole position. Enter Yuzvendra Chahal. Chahal took four wickets, including a hattrick, in the penultimate over of the innings to derail CSK's lower order.
The chase was set in motion by Prabhsimran Singh and later by Shreyas Iyer as the two firmly put Punjab in the driver's seat. Shashank Singh also put in a timely finish, but CSK weren't going down without a fight. A flurry of wickets at the end stalled CSK's loss till the very last over.

LSG were going strong at the beginning of the season, but now have two consecutive losses in the tournament, the last of them against Mumbai Indians in Mumbai. Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav's fifties put MI in a strong position, while Naman Dhir and Corbin Bosch gave a strong finish. LSG started well despite losing Aiden Markram early, but Will Jacks turned the game on its head.
Jacks hadn't been able to convert his start with the bat, but with the ball in hand, he prised out both Nicholas Pooran and Rishabh Pant in the same over and LSG were left playing catch-up. Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah completed the clean-up as MI won by 54 runs.
The two teams had met before in the season in Lucknow, and PBKS had emerged victorious there. LSG's batters all got starts and failed to convert them. Abdul Samad finished the innings perfectly despite Arshdeep Singh's best efforts. The target of 172 never really looked like a problem to PBKS. Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer got fifties, and Nehal Wadhera put in a finishing touch so brutal, PBKS were home with 22 balls to spare.
