The Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 47 runs in the Eliminator at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on Wednesday, May 27.

Pat Cummins' decision to bowl first on a flat deck backfired as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi  unlocked beast mode. He put the SRH bowlers to the sword with his scintillating batting display, foiling whatever plans they had against him. Sooryavanshi was eventually dismissed for 97 off 29 balls. He was within a whisker of breaking the record for the fastest IPL century (30 balls).

Dhruv Jurel also played an impressive knock of 50 off 21 balls, while Riyan Parag contributed with a crucial cameo of 26 off 12 deliveries. SRH picked up a few wickets towards the latter stage, but thanks to Sooryavanshi's pandemonium, RR finished on a massive score of 243/8.

In reply, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head had to fire for SRH. However, the former was dismissed off the second ball by Jofra Archer. Head and Ishan Kishan gave SRH hopes of a historic win with a 51-run partnership off just 15 balls. However, Archer disrupted their plans by sending both of them back to the hut inside the power play.

Heinrich Klaasen, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Salil Arora played enterprising cameos, but it was never going to be enough for the Orange Army. They were eventually bowled out for 196 in 19.2 overs as Rajasthan progressed to Qualifier 2.
