The grand finale of the T20 World Cup 2022 is finally here as Pakistan and England cross swords with each other in the summit clash on Sunday, November 13 at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground in a repeat of the 1992 One-Day World Cup final. Both the teams have played in a T20 WC final twice, with Pakistan winning in 2009 and losing in 2007 while England falling short in 2016 after winning the title once in 2010.
In this edition, Jos Buttler and his men began the campaign with a victory against Afghanistan before suffering a shock loss to Ireland by DLS method. Their encounter against defending champions Australia got abandoned due to rain at the ‘G’ but since then, England have registered three successive victories over New Zealand, Sri Lanka and India which was the semi-final match.
On the other hand, Pakistan looked down and out after losing their opening two fixtures against arch-rivals India and Zimbabwe. But Babar Azam and his team then peaked at the right time to seal four wins on the bounce - against Netherlands, South Africa, Bangladesh, and New Zealand (semi-final). Both teams are all set to script history as one of them would join West Indies as two-time T20 World Cup champions.
England, who have won the ODI World Cup in 2019, have a golden opportunity to win the T20 WC and create the record of holding two world titles at the same time. One last dance awaits the eighth edition of the 20-overs WC as Pakistan and England lock horns on the mega stage at the historic venue.
