Babar Azam’s Pakistan continues their campaign when they face Zimbabwe in Match 24 of the ongoing T20 World Cup on October 27 on a triple-header day at the Perth Stadium. The Men in Green faced a Virat Kohli special in Melbourne as they suffered a four-wicket loss in a thriller of their opening match of the tournament. Zimbabwe’s opener with South Africa ended with no result as the neighbouring countries shared points.
Speaking about the India game, the ever-reliable opening pair of skipper Babar and Mohammad Rizwan failed to reach the double-figure as both fell early. But half-centuries from Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed took Pakistan’s total to 159/8 in their allotted 20 overs. In what looked like a challenging total and with India struggling at 31/4, Pakistan’s victory looked inevitable. But King Kohli rose to the occasion as he broke Pakistan’s hearts with his knock of 82* off 53.
The Men in Green will be looking to come out of the Kohli hangover and snatch a victory against the African nation Zimbabwe. Shaheen Afridi, who looked a bit rusty after coming back from an injury, would be raring to go against the Zimbabwean batting line-up. To make matters worse for Zimbabwe, they have a terrible record of losing 16 out of 17 against Pakistan in the format.
Meanwhile, here are some of the important stats and numbers ahead of Match 24 in the Super 12 Round in Group 2 between Pakistan and Zimbabwe in T20 WC 2022:
