The Rajasthan Royals (RR) take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match 36 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, in what will be the first reverse fixture of the 2026 season.
The Royals are playing their first home game at their designated home venue, after playing their first three home games in Guwahati. They have put a string of two losses behind them with an away victory against the Lucknow Super Giants, where they successfully defended a score of 160 and won by 40 runs.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad have been resurgent in the IPL after a slow start, with three consecutive victories. They have stepped up with the bat, and the bowlers have picked up key wickets in all phases of the game. They await the return of skipper Pat Cummins, who has reportedly been cleared to play in the IPL.
The two teams met at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on April 13. On that occasion, it was the Sunrisers who handed the Royals their first loss of IPL 2026. Chasing a score of 217, set up by a brilliant 91 from Ishan Kishan, the Royals found themselves at 9/5 in the powerplay, and were eventually bundled out for 159. Debutants Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain took the Royals apart with four wickets apiece.
Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur Pitch report
The Sawai Mansingh Stadium is one of the best chasing grounds in the IPL, as reflected by the numbers and historical precedent. While it does favour teams that bat second, it is a wicket which provides enough for bowlers, with lateral movement and the slowness of the surface providing grip and turn for spinners. There is value for textbook shotmaking, which gets easier as the game progresses. The square boundaries are wide, which makes scoring off cross-batted shots much more difficult.

RR vs SRH Strategies and Match-ups
The teams have met 22 times in the IPL, with the Sunrisers having a 13-9 lead over the Royals. They come into this clash on the back of momentum from three consecutive wins and having beaten the Royals once already this season.
The Royals possess one of the most potent bowling attacks in the league, and their young top-order would be raring to go after a string of low scores. The trio of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel were dismissed cheaply when the two teams last met, and will be looking to make amends in what is their first game in Jaipur in 2026.
