India and South Africa clash in the first ODI of a three-match series on 17 December at the iconic New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. The series then travels to Gqeberha for the second match before concluding in Paarl. 

This opening encounter marks the seventh ODI clash between India and South Africa at the Wanderers. In the previous six matches, South Africa have emerged victorious on five occasions, with India winning one and another game abandoned. Their last meeting at this venue saw South Africa clinch a comfortable five-wicket win with 15 balls remaining in a D/L chase, with Heinrich Klaasen bagging the Player of the Match award. South Africa, the hosts, boast an impressive record at the Wanderers, winning 30 out of 40 ODIs played here (75% win rate). Visiting teams have managed only 10 victories.

India and South Africa have faced off in 15 ODI series, with India winning seven, South Africa six, and two ending in draws.
