A ruthless batting from Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis helped Royal Challengers Bangalore edge over Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets despite Heinrich Klaasen's maiden IPL century in match number 65 of Indian Premier League 2023 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, in Hyderabad. 

The visitors won the toss and opted to bowl first. Michael Bracewell drew the first blood as Abhishek Sharma departed after 14 balls 11-run knock, Michael Bracewell not only broke the opening partnership but also struck twice in the same over to send back Rahul Tripathi for 15 runs. SRH were left reeling at 49/2, at the end of the powerplay. The South African batters, Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen led the rescue with a 76-run stand.

Shahbaz Ahmed ended the good-looking partnership by dismissing Aiden Markram for 18 runs. Heinrich Klaasen (104 off 51) rose to his maiden IPL ton before getting dismissed by Harshal Patel in the 19th over. A few cameos from Harry Brook (27 of 19) and Glenn Phillips (5 of 4) helped the Sunrisers to post a 186 in 20 overs. 

In response to 186, RCB openers, Virat Kohli and skipper, Faf du Plessis, went ruthless against the pity SRH, recording their highest-opening partnership in IPL 2023. SRH bowlers literally had no answers against the RCB openers as they put together 172 runs for the first wicket. Virat Kohli (100 0ff 63) rose to his sixth IPL century before getting dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the 18th over. Faf du Plessis smashed 71 off 47 before getting dismissed by Natarajan in the 19th over. Glenn Maxwell and Michael Bracewell finished the game in the 20th over.

4-Heinrich Klaasen (104 of 51) smashed his maiden century and became the fourth player to score a century for SRH along with David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, and Harry Brook. 

872 - Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis have together scored 872 runs this season which is the highest opening partnership runs in the IPL season, surpassing the tally of Jonny Bairstow and David Warner (791) in 2019.

7 – Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis has registered the seventh fifty plus partnership , which is the Most fifty plus partnership in IPL 2023, surpassing the tally of Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal (6)  

702 – Faf du Plessis now became the third player to score 700 or more runs in IPL season for RCB. Virat Kohli tops the list with 973 runs in 2016 and Chris Gayle with 733 and 708 in 2012 and 2013.
