T20 World Cup 2024: Stats Review, Most wicket in T20 World Cups and other stats from Bangladesh vs India

India continued their unbeaten run in the T20 World Cup and put themselves in prime position for the knockouts after getting the better of Bangladesh.

Being put in, Rohit Sharma (23 off 11) and Virat Kohli (37 off 28) came out with an aggressive look in the powerplay and kept the runs flowing. Rishabh Pant(36 off 24) was at his usual best, but a rare failure for Suryakumar Yadav meant that India were looking slightly dire at the 10-over mark. Shivam Dube(34 off 24) started slowly but picked up the pace by just enough to support Hardik Pandya(50* off 27) as India posted 196/5. 

Bangladesh started aggressively in the powerplay as well, but Pandya broke the floodgates open by picking up the first wicket. Jasprit Bumrah(2 for 13) was at his miserly best, but it was Kuldeep Yadav(3 for 19) who broke the back of the chase, and even with Rishad Hossain(24 off 10) trying his best to increase the run rate, Bangladesh still fell short by 50 runs.

2 - Rohit Sharma moved up to 40 sixes in the T20 World Cup. Which means he is now joint second with David Warner on the list for most sixes in T20 World Cup history. Chris Gayle with 63 is first. 

50 - Shakib al Hasan became the first player to take 50 wickets in the T20 World Cup. Shahid Afridi with 39 is a distant second. 

3000 - Virat Kohli became the first player to aggregate 3000 runs in World Cups(both ODI and T20 put together).

2 - Hardik Pandya became the second Indian player to score a fifty and take a wicket in a T20 World Cup match. Each of the two previous instances were by Virat Kohli who did it against Pakistan in 2012, and in the semifinal of the 2016 edition against West Indies. 

3 - 196/5 is now India's third highest total in T20 World Cups. 

2 - Arshdeep Singh is now the joint second highest wicket taker for India in T20 World Cups. R Ashwin leads the cahrt with 32 while Arshdeep and Jadeja share the second spot with 22. Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya with 21 each follow next. 

1 - Arshdeep Singh has now taken 12 wickets in this edition of the T20 World Cup. This is the joint-most for India in a single edition alongside RP Singh in 2007.
