Deepti Sharma broke several records while contributing to India's Women's World Cup 2025 title-winning run. The 28-year-old all-rounder was adjudged with the Player of the Tournament for her all-round display of 215 runs and 22 wickets.

She shone in the all-important clash against South Africa at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai as well. Deepti's performance of 58 off 58 and 5/39 in 9.3 overs made her the first cricketer to score a fifty and bag five wickets in a Men's or Women's World Cup knockout game. She became the first women's cricketer for India in ODIs to achieve the coveted double.

Deepti's all-round performance have drawn comparisons to Yuvraj Singh, who played in the 2011 World Cup and bagged the same award for his all-round brilliance in India's titular win. Her performance in the mega event has been garnering a lot of praise from ex-international cricketers and the cricket fraternity in general.

India secured a 52-run victory against the Proteas on Sunday, November 2. Deepti arrived in the middle in the 30th over and remained till the end of the innings. Her run-a-ball 58 comprised three fours and one six. Coming to her performance with the ball, Deepti conceded only 39 runs in 9.3 overs. She also picked up the iconic final wicket of the match, that of Nadine de Klerk, who had starred in South Africa's three-wicket win India in the league phase.

While Deepti played a vital role in the summit clash, the Player of the Match accolade went to 21-year-old Shafali Verma. Coming in as an injury replacement of Pratika Rawal who had twisted ankle in the group fixture against Bangladesh, Shafali fired on all cylinders when it mattered the most. She top-scored for the co-hosts with 87 off 78 and returned with figures of 2/36 in seven overs.
