Afghanistan’s sensational youngster Rashid Khan’s mother passed away on Thursday after striving with a prolonged illness. The leg-spinner took to Twitter to share the news and paid an ardent tribute to his late mother.
The 21-year-old grieved her loss and wrote he still couldn’t believe his mother left him. “You were my home my mother I had no home but you. I can’t believe you are no more with me you will (be) missed forever. Rest In Peace,” Rashid Khan tweeted.
إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُوْنَ

This must have been a tough time for him as it’s just been around 18 months since Rashid lost his father when he was playing for Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League in Australia. Rashid earlier tweeted about his mother’s crumbling health as well, requesting his fans to pray for her recovery.
Ya Allah ! Give my mother a good health. Please remember her in your prayers 🙏🙏

The leggie is widely regarded as one of the best T20 bowlers, proving himself in top cricket leagues across the globe. He has 296 T20 wickets in 211 matches all combined. He has appeared in four Tests, 71 ODIs and 48 T20Is for Afghanistan so far, picking up 23, 133, and 89 wickets in the three formats, respectively.
He became the captain of the side following the 2019 edition of the World Cup held in England before Asghar Afghan was reappointed as national captain in December later in the year. Under Rashid’s captaincy, Afghanistan won the historic one-off Test against Bangladesh. He is also the holder of a unique record when he became the youngest player to captain a country at the age of 19 years and 165 days in March 2018, during the World Cup qualifiers.
Rashid Khan would’ve joined the Sunrisers Hyderabad camp for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League but the tournament remains suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. He has played 46 matches and picked up 55 wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad at an average of 21.69 and an economy of 6.55.
The cricket family on Twitter and fans from around the world have sent their condolences for the Afghanistan spinner, who had an inspiring career already at such a young age. From Mohammad Nabi to Sachin Tendulkar and Sandeep Sharma, cricketers from Asia prayed for Rashid Khan at this difficult hour.
