Suresh Raina is celebrating his 32nd birthday today and the wishes are pouring in for the cricketer on the social media. The left-hander is currently with the Uttar Pradesh team in Kanpur for their next Ranji encounter which is all set to begin on Wednesday. He will be keen on making an impact for his team after having not so best of the seasons so far. The special occasion might change the things for him with the willow in the upcoming year.

Raina has been out of the contention for the Indian side as well after failing in the ODI series against England. He was picked in the side as a replacement for Ambati Rayudu then and had a great chance to seal his position with the World Cup happening in the same country. But in the two outings, the southpaw couldn’t pack a punch and in the process, once again lost his place in the team.

Raina – India’s go to man

Suresh Raina, over the years, was India’s go to man. But after 2015 ICC World Cup, he fell off the radar thanks to a considerable dip in form. Moreover, not being well also played a part in his axing from the Indian team. However, the flamboyant cricketer made a stunning comeback in the national side earlier this year with a brilliant century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy.

He was the part of the squad which won the Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka and played a crucial role batting at number three as well. As far as Raina’s career is concerned, he has the massive experience of 226 matches in ODIs and with his fielding and fitness, he might be considered for the World Cup if any player from the current team gets injured.

He is also known as the Mr IPL having played consistently in all the editions of the tournament. He has amassed at least 350 runs in all the season of the competition and is the only player to do so. Even in the upcoming season, he will hoping to turn around his fortunes with the bat.
