Cricketing fraternity thrilled by Rashid Khan’s prowess

Afghanistan is a war-stricken country and playing cricket in the nation can be tumultuous for the cricketers. However, the tensions in the country couldn’t fizzle out the fervor to play the sport. Several players have emerged in the last couple of years, Rashid Khan is one of them. He is a teenager and has already captured the imaginations of the supporters.

He is currently ranked number one in T20Is and is rated amongst the most lethal spinners doing the rounds. The tweaker is also a sought out player in domestic cricket around the globe. He has plenty of cricket left in him and is speculated to break several records. Several cricketers over the time period have showered the spinner with accolades.

The praises from the cricket world

“I wouldn’t hesitate in saying he is the best spinner in the world in this format… (and) he’s got some batting skills as well,” Sachin Tendulkar was quoted as saying previously on Twitter.

“It’s fantastic to see two young Afghanistan spinners bamboozle world batsmen. Both Rashid and Mujeeb are extremely talented and if they get it right they are certainly capable of testing… Indian or any batsmen,” Shane Warne mentioned in an earlier interaction with the media.

Rashid will now be playing in Afghanistan’s maiden Test match, which starts on June 14 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. He is expected to be a vital cog in their setup in the team’s foray into white ball cricket. Anil Kumble, the former Indian leg-break bowler believes that the challenge will be different for Rashid when he takes the field versus Ajinkya Rahane’s men.

“It will be interesting to see how they go, because bowling four overs and bowling to get wickets in a Test match is totally different,” Kumble mentioned.
