The cricketing trends on social media revolved around a number of events. New Zealand avenged their T20I series loss by registering a four-wicket victory against India in the first ODI at Seddon Park. Shreyas Iyer’s ton coupled with KL Rahul’s quick-fire knock helped India in posting a massive total of 347 runs.
Just when everyone thought that the world would witness yet another Kiwi collapse, Ross Taylor stepped up on the occasion and smashed a ton to steer his side to the victory. After getting humiliated in the T20I series, Black Caps have retaliated by going 1-0 up in the series. Several cricketers and fans extended wishes to the New Zealand side for a dominant performance.
Ross Taylor, who stole the show at Seddon Park, reacted on his stellar performance after the match. The Kiwi batsman acknowledged the support he got from Henry Nicholls and Tom Latham and termed the victory as a satisfying one.
Meanwhile, wishes also galore for Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who celebrated his 30th birthday. Many individuals from the cricketing fraternity extended wishes to the bowler including Sachin Tendulkar and Ishant Sharma. Australia veteran Darren Lehmann also celebrated his 50th birthday.
Rohit Sharma, who was unfortunate to suffer an injury ahead of the ODI and Test series against New Zealand, is currently undergoing the recovery process. BCCI shared a picture on Twitter while wishing the Indian opener a speedy recovery.
India U19, who decimated Pakistan U19 to cruise into the finals of the U19 World Cup, received praise across the globe. Mithali Raj also extended wishes to the Indian colts for their impressive performance in the semi-finals.

Eternally grateful for this opportunity to play ODIs for India. Gutted with the loss, but we shall strive harder to win the next two games! 🙏🏽 pic.twitter.com/jF8H4EjHqS

2. Mohammad Kaif impressed with the performance of New Zealand
Mighty impressed with NZ today. Chasing 347 without Williamson is quite a feat. But then that's what we've come to expect from a side that always punches above their weight, without having a host of superstars in their line-up.
Still back India to make it 2-1 though #NZvIND
