Cricketing Trends on Social Media Today

Continuing their blistering form, Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi Capitals registered a comfortable 46-run triumph against Rajasthan Royals. While batting first, DC had a shaky start after losing their top three batsmen– Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan and skipper Iyer.

However, impressive knocks in the middle by Marcus Stoinis (39) and Shimron Hetmyer (45) steered Delhi to a daunting 184-run total. The venue was Sharjah and fans, as expected, witnessed a flurry of boundaries. DC didn’t manage to cross the 200-run mark but their impressive bowling show made it up for them

Royals, yet again, failed to stitch a steady opening stand after Jos Buttler, Steve Smith and Sanju Samson were shown the exit door. Young left-hander Yashasvi Jaiswal stuck in the middle by playing cautiously. However, the asking run-rate kept on climbing, leading to DC losing wickets in quick succession.

In-form Rahul Tewatia notched a 29-ball 38 to steer RR closer to the target. He even hit a few boundaries to raise hopes of RR fans. But in the end, Royals were wrapped up on a meagre 138 at Sharjah as Delhi registered their fifth victory of the tournament. Twitter heaped praise on DC’s efforts against RR and their impressive run in the on-going IPL 2020. They’re now looking like favourites to qualify for Playoffs. With five wins in six games, they’re currently sitting at the top of the points table with 10 points under their belt.
