As England and Australia flagged off the three-match ODI series at Old Trafford, Twitter was flooded with tweets mentioning about the happenings of the game. Australia, after losing five wickets before the 25th over, retaliated and put up a dominant 294-run total on the scoreboard. Mitchell Marsh, who scored 73 off 100 deliveries, stayed at the crease to keep the scoreboard ticking. He was also assisted by another all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who smashed a quick-fire 77 off 59 deliveries.

Twitter also lauded bowling effort of Jofra Archer and Mark Wood, who scalped three wickets each to derail Australia’s run-flow. Archer struck early in the innings by bowling a stunning delivery to David Warner. The delivery went through Warner’s defence and knocked off the top of off-stump.

Wishes also kept pouring in for Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) after they chased down a target of 155 for their 12th successive win and clinched their 4th CPL title on Thursday. Riders won their fourth CPL trophy in style as they had a perfect season with no losses.

IPL franchises also kept sharing photos and videos of their players sweating it out during outdoor training. RCB leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who is quite active on social media, took a dig at Mike Hesson for not allowing him to bat up the order. After being denied the opening spot, Chahal shared a picture with Hesson with the caption, “When you ask him to open the batting & he says no.”

Chahal is expected to play a crucial role in RCB’s hunt for their maiden IPL title. Along with Chahal, the Virat Kohli-led franchise will also have the likes of Washington Sundar, Adam Zampa, Moeen Ali and Pawan Negi in the spin-bowling department. RCB will open their campaign against the David Warner-led Sunrisers Hyderabad on the 21st of September.
