The cricketing trends on social media revolved around a number of events. Twitter was flooded with India-Australia tweets as the visitors decimated the Men in Blue in the first ODI at Wankhede. The opening duo of Warner-Finch stitched a record partnership to propel the Kangaroos to the triumph. The Indian bowling force looked hapless against the robust batting of Warner and Finch as Australia cruised to a thumping 10-wicket victory against the Men in Blue.
Post Irfan Pathan’s retirement from international cricket, the all-rounder has been receiving love and support from all parts of the world. It was quite evident when Pathan shared a video of Kolkata fans cheering for the all-rounder. India’s young stalwart Prithvi Shaw, who has been struggling to cement his spot in the Indian side, shared a video of him practising in the nets. The 20-year-old was seen middling the ball in the nets.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka announced their squad for the Test series against Zimbabwe and they have made just one change to their line-up. Fast bowling spearhead Suranga Lakmal, who had missed out on the tour to Pakistan due to injury made a comeback to the Test set-up while Kusal Perera was dropped due to dismal form. India’s Test-format stalwart Ajinkya Rahane also shared a picture while reading a book. Parthiv Patel also shared a throwback picture of Gujarat winning their maiden Ranji title in 2017 on this day.
Jalaj Saxena, who is regarded as one of the best all-rounders across the domestic circuit, scalped his 20th five-wicket haul to propel Kerala to the win against Punjab. Ravichandran Ashwin, who is currently prepping for the upcoming Test match series against New Zealand, raised his concerns regarding the smog that had engulfed the city of Chennai.
AB de Villiers also grabbed the attention after making his BBL debut for Brisbane Heat. The South African veteran played a composed 40-run knock in Heat’s comprehensive victory.

Massive smog in Chennai this morning owing to Bhogi burning, entire nose getting blocked and black discharges later in the day. I am not sure if it’s worth spoiling the planet further in the name of traditions. There has to be a way to educate everyone and make them understand🙏
