The cricketing trends on social media revolved around a number of events. The opening Test between Sri Lanka and England got underway at the Galle International Stadium. After electing to bat first, the hosts were bowled out for 135 in 46.1 overs. Kusal Perera, Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal and Dasun Shanaka got into the 20s, but none could go on and carry on with their good work. In the meantime, Dhammika Prasad congratulated Mathews and Chandimal for completing 4000 and 6000 runs respectively.

Spinner Dominic Bess was the wrecker in chief as he picked up five wickets after conceding only 30 runs in 10.1 overs. Rashid Khan, the Afghanistan leg-spinner, is set to play for Afghanistan in their series against Ireland. He last played for the Adelaide Strikers in the 2020-21 edition of the Big Bash League. He ended as one of the leading wicket-takers in the tournament.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman is delighted after joining the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2020 edition of the Pakistan Super League. Mujeeb was one of the star bowlers for the Brisbane Heat in the BBL and he even picked up a five-wicket haul against the Hobart Hurricanes, though his team lost. Manoj Tiwary, the Bengal cricketer, is set to play their next match against Hyderabad in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.
