Cricketing Trends on Social Media today

The cricketing trends on social media revolved around a number of events. The U19 World Cup in South Africa got underway with the match between the hosts and Afghanistan at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley. The home team, led by Bryce Parsons, flattered to deceive as the Afghans won by seven wickets with 25 balls to spare. Leg-spinner Shafiqullah Ghafari picked up a six-wicket-haul, conceding only 15 runs. He also managed to surpass Aftab Alam as the Afghan bowler with the best figures in the U19 World Cup. Alam also managed to get a six-fer back in 2010, but gave away more runs.

Meanwhile, the final of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) took place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. Rajshahi Royals and Khulna Tigers locked horns in the national capital. Brad Hogg, who was one of the commentators in the T20 championship, kept his fingers crossed prior to the crunch game. Mohammad Amir, who finished as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament, was also nervous before the game.

At the SCA Stadium in Rajkot, India faced off with Australia. Aakash Chopra was impressed with Aaron Finch’s style of leadership in the contest. Sanjay Manjrekar couldn’t stop heaping praises on KL Rahul, who churned out 80 runs off 52 balls with the help of six fours and three sixes. VVS Laxman was happy after seeing fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah get back to his best. Ajinkya Rahane wished Saiyami Kher for her new movie.
