Twitter was flooded with birthday wishes for Ravichandran Ashwin, who turned 34 today on 17 September. Ashwin, who currently is in the UAE for IPL 2020, will be plying his trade for Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi Capitals.
The off-spinner, who previously captained the Kings XI Punjab for two seasons, was traded to Delhi Capitals ahead of the thirteenth edition of the IPL. Apart from an impressive IPL career, Ashwin also has proved his worth while representing India.
He has scalped 365 wickets at a remarkable average of 25.43 in Tests. While in ODIs, he has 150 wickets to his name. The Tamil Nadu all-rounder has the experience of donning the India jersey in 71 Tests, 111 ODIs and 46 T20Is. Ashwin is quite active on social media and he responded to several birthday wishes. Wishes also poured in for India Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who celebrated his 70th birthday today. He was wished by many cricketers including BCCI president Sourav Ganguly.
Meanwhile, quarantine guidelines for England and Australia players arriving to UAE from the UK were released. It was expected that all players coming off England-Australia series will serve a shortened quarantine period of 36 hours.
However, players heading to Abu Dhabi will have to spend six days in quarantine as the capital has stricter quarantine norms. Kolkata Knight Riders, who have their base in Abu Dhabi, will have to deal with the absence Eoin Morgan, Tom Banton and Pat Cummins for their opening fixture.
