The cricketing trends on social media today revolved around Afghanistan’s maiden Test win at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Dehradun. They defeated Ireland by seven wickets by becoming the joint second quickest country to register their first Test win along with England and Pakistan. Chasing a tricky total of 147 runs in the second innings, the hosts had lost Mohammad Shahzad early on the third day.

But Rahmat Shah and Ihsanullah Janat shared a 139-run stand for the second wicket to set up a perfect chase in the end. A lot of current and former cricketers expressed their elation for Afghanistan and also lauded the team for their constant rise in international cricket. Michael Vaughan congratulated them for a historic victory and also predicted that they will take down a couple of teams in the upcoming World Cup.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to kick off on March 23 with the game between Chennai Super Kings and the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chepauk. All the players are joining their respective franchises and expressing their delight on social media. Virat Kohli also did the same as he felt ecstatic after joining the RCB camp at the Chinnaswamy Stadium and hit the nets soon.
