The cricketing trends on social media revolved around a number of events. The third and final ODI between India and Australia took place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the visitors could only manage 286 for nine in their 50 overs. Steve Smith was their standout performer as he scored 131 runs off 132 balls with the help of 14 fours and a six. He got to his century off 117 balls and got support from Marnus Labuschagne, who turned up with a 64-ball 54. Smith and Labuschagne shared a 127-run stand for the second wicket.

Smith was lauded for producing another masterclass at the highest level. Niall O’Brien, the former Ireland cricketer, was happy with how Mohammed Shami bowled in the death overs. The Indian fast bowler picked up four wickets, though he conceded 63 runs in his quota of four overs. Meanwhile, at The Gabba in Brisbane, Melbourne Renegades and the hosts were involved in a dramatic match. While chasing 165, the Heat managed 84 runs in the powerplay, but were bowled out for 120. In fact, the Heat lost their last seven wickets for seven runs in a space of 16 deliveries.

Ricky Ponting, the former Australian cricketer, wasn’t happy with their performance. Ponting, who is in the commentary panel for the Big Bash League (BBL), was disappointed as such-batting collapses have started to become common. Former South Africa cricketer Herschelle Gibbs enjoyed the bliss of rain in Cape Town. Krunal Pandya posted a throwback picture with wife Pankhuri Sharma.
