The cricketing trends on Tuesday revolved around the English side, who made three big changes in the World Cup squad. Jofra Archer was roped into the side after so many debates on whether or not he should be selected, but it came at the expense of a very harsh decision to drop David Willey. James Vince and Liam Dawson were the other additions to the side in place of the suspended Alex Hales and Joe Denly.
Afghanistan came up with a strong show against Ireland having lost the first match in Belfast. The Irish bowlers, who did such a wonderful job in the first match, got hammered in the hands of Mohammad Shahzad, who cracked a blazing hundred. Afghanistan kick-started their bowling innings on a strong note as well and are well on course to complete a big win.
Finally, the Scottish fans managed to witness some action in Glasgow after the rain gods didn’t intervene during the second game between Scotland and Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka put up 322 runs on board. Avishka Fernando, Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis registered half-centuries for the Islanders, helping them post a big total.
No changes are expected in the Indian World Cup squad, which means it might the end of the road for the likes of Rishabh Pant and Ambati Rayudu temporarily. The warm-up matches will begin on 25th with the main tournament kick-starting on 30th. South Africa and England will be locking-horns to begin the proceedings with India playing its first match against South Africa on 5th June.
