Cricketing Trends on Social Media today

Twitter was stormed with tweets expressing grief over the plane crash that happened in Karachi. The plane was reportedly carrying around 99 passengers and eight crew and was flying from Lahore to Jinnah International Airport before the incident took place. The aircraft crashed before landing in Karachi and the news of this devastating incident spread like wildfire on social media.

Pakistan PM Imran Khan also shared condolences and prayed for the loss of lives. Along with the Prime Minister, many former and current Pakistan cricketers joined the bandwagon and expressed their grief and mourned the loss of lives. ‘Rawalpindi Express’ Shoiab Akhtar also offered his condolences and prayed for the families of victims.

Newly-appointed ODI skipper of Pakistan, Babar Azam also expressed his grief and extended his prayers to those who lost their lives in the incident.

Apart from this devastating news, many players also extended birthday wishes to former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed on Twitter. The wicketkeeper-batsman was wished by many current and former cricketers as he turned 33 on Friday.

Robin Uthappa also hogged the headlines after requesting BCCI to allow contracted or non-contracted players to feature in other leagues. Earlier, Suresh Raina had also raised the issue and had requested the Indian board to grant permission to players.

Uthappa, like many other cricketers, also prayed for everyone who has been affected by Cyclone Amphan in the past two days. He suggested everyone to stay strong and safe amid these trying times.
