The cricketing trends on social media today revolved around the ongoing second Ashes Test between the arch-rivals England and Australia at Lord’s. Steve Smith was once again at his best with the bat and stood firm when the wickets kept falling at the other end. He scored a valiant 92 to take Australia close to England’s first innings total. The fraternity hailed him for the stupendous knock.
However, his duel with Jofra Archer was the one many were excited of and it lived up the expectation. The Caribbean born bowler was at his best and he literally unsettled Smith with his bowling. One of the bouncers first hit the batsman on his arm which led to Smith wearing the guard in grimacing pain. But then came the deadliest delivery which hit him flush in the neck-jaw area.
Smith collapsed at the same moment after being hit and had to walk off the field to get treated. However, he was fine soon as he came out to bat at the fall of next wicket and scored three boundaries much to the delight of the Australian fans. Meanwhile, the cricketers from both the countries expressed concern for the batsman while they also praised Archer for bowling absolutely well.
