Cricketing Trends on Social Media Today

Match 9 of IPL 2020 witnessed two impressive sides– Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab locking horns with each other at Sharjah. With the presence of in-form batsmen like KL Rahul, Sanju Samson, Mayank Agarwal and Steve Smith, it was expected to be a hard-hitting thriller. And that’s what both the teams served.

After being put to bat first, KXIP’s Karnataka pair of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal unleashed fury and demolished RR’s bowling force. Stitching a colossal 183-run opening stand, Rahul and Mayank continued their stellar form and smoked boundaries for fun. On the back of Mayank-Rahul duo, KXIP amassed a robust 223-run total on the scoreboard.

In response, Rajasthan Royals, backed by Sanju Samson’s batting brilliance and Rahul Tewatia’s incredible show, pulled off a miracle. Steve Smith’s troops scripted the highest run-chase in the history of IPL. Fans were enthralled by witnessing the roller-coaster ride at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Samson (85 off 42) and skipper Smith (50 off 27) laid the foundation for RR’s triumph.

However, in the end, it was Tewatia who rose to the occasion. The left-hander smoked five sixes off Sheldon Cottrell’s over and turned the tide in RR’s favour. On the back of a terrific batting show, the Royals achieved the unbelievable by hunting down a colossal total.

Twitter was flooded with tweets lauding RR’s impressive show. Mayank and Agarwal were also praised by their impressive knocks. But their knocks were ultimately eclipsed by Samson’s enthralling batting and Tewatia’s late fireworks. Several former cricketers and fans heaped praise on Samson and Tewatia for their outstanding knocks.
