Twitter was all about tributes to England pacer Stuart Broad. Hosts England, in the third and final Test against West Indies, clinched the series by winning the match by 269 runs. After setting a target of 399, England bowled out West Indies at a meagre total of 129 runs.
Player of the Match, Stuart Broad, picked 10 wickets in the Test and in the process, became the only the 7th bowler in world cricket to pluck 500 Test wickets. The pacer achieved the milestone by trapping batsman Kraigg Brathwaite during the final day of the Manchester Test. Broad now is only the fourth fast bowler after James Anderson (589), Glenn McGrath (563) and Courtney Walsh (519) to scalp 500 Test wickets.
34-year-old Broad was also awarded Player of the Series for his scintillating performance with the ball in the second and third Test. Many former and current cricketers including Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan heaped praise on Broad for achieving the 500 Test wickets milestone. Praises also poured in for the West Indies squad, who took a big risk to arrive in England and flag off the cricketing scenario amid COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan, amid the absence of cricket for India players, hosted a Q&A session where he answered a plethora of questions. The left-hander also spilled beans on his favourite memories with former Indian skipper MS Dhoni. Dhawan also heaped praise on ‘Little Master’ Sachin Tendulkar.
