The cricketing trends on social media today revolved around the India-New Zealand game in the ongoing World Cup in England and Wales. The fraternity waited for an eternity for the rains to relent but it never happened. It was a stop-start kind of an affair with the heaven gods playing with the groundstaff. After several inspections, the umpires finally had to call off the game in which even the toss didn’t take place.
The former cricketers and experts were waiting eagerly for the game to start. But the conditions never really improved at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Bishan Singh Bedi had a spare of thought for ICC who are currently facing the ire of the fans. A total of four matches have been washed in the last few days and it was pure luck that the weather changed dramatically for the encounter between Australia and Pakistan in Taunton the other day.
Meanwhile, Shahid Afridi presented his views over Pakistan’s second loss in four matches in the competition. They went down to Australia chasing 308 runs and were bundled out for 266 runs. Afridi felt that the batsmen who got starts should’ve scored big after getting in. But that didn’t happen as Babar Azam scored 30 runs, while Mohammad Hafeez and Imam-ul-Haq scored 46 and 53 runs before getting out.
1. Gibbs anticipated the washout
Unfortunately it’s looking likely that another game will be abandoned due to rain at the @cricketworldcup …for most teams it’s not ideal but for one team they won’t mind it at all????

2. Sheldon not happy with ICC
Didnt the icc know about the rains, if they knew then the facilities at the grounds are poor for the likes of a world cup specially, As a fan cant keep missing such games. and the world cup happens once in 4years.#justsaying

3. Afridi gives his views
I feel it is really important for the players who get in to convert 40s-50s into big runs, that’s how you win matches. The players need to stay calm and focused and yes fielding will play a major role, 70-80% of the game is won with fielding. #WorldCup2019 ????
