The vice-captain of the Indian Test team Ajinkya Rahane turned 30-years-old on Wednesday as the cricketing fraternity is busy wishing him on social media. The stylish right-hander is the vital cog of the side and is known to be one of the nicest sportspersons ever. He is currently enjoying a break from his hectic cricketing schedule and must be delighted to be with his family on the special occasion.

Rahane will be soon leading Team India in the historic one-off Test match against Afghanistan as the regular skipper Virat Kohli is injured. He was also the skipper of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the recently concluded in the Indian Premier League (IPL) season. His team qualified for the playoffs and many loved the way he led the young side which was also filled with some of the superstars across the world.

Rahane’s career

Ajinkya Rahane has amassed 2883 runs in 44 Test matches so far and boasts a brilliant average of 43.68 to go with nine centuries and 12 scores of over 50. His real test will be in England where India is scheduled to play 5 matches in whites in August. Unfortunately, he is not part of the side in the limited overs format which has surprised many. The birthday boy averages 35 in 90 One-Day International and was in magnificent touch during the South Africa tour where he batted at number 4.

The cricketer himself has pledged that he will come back strongly across all the formats but he will now be concentrating on doing well against Afghanistan. The former and current cricketers though are busy wishing him on a special day. While Sachin Tendulkar termed him as one of the most sincere and hardworking cricketers in his wish, Suresh Raina called him the true gentleman in his birthday message for his teammate. Even Rahane is responding to the messages with a ‘Thank You’ messages promptly as he is enjoying the day to the fullest.
