CT 2017: Mohammad Hafeez and Azhar Ali acknowledges Pakistani fans

Pakistan lost against India in their opening match of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 by 124 runs.

Pakistani cricketers are providing their fans a reason to cheer about. They received a shameful defeat at the hands of rivals India. In a rain-curtailed match on Sunday at Edgbaston, Birmingham, the men in green were asked to score 324 runs in 48 overs. Later, due to the introduction of rain again, the game got reduced to 41 overs and a new target was adjudged accordingly.

But the Indian bowlers were too good for the Pakistani batters, as they crumbled under pressure like a can of tin, They were done and dusted at 164 runs only. But the Pakistani fans kept supporting their team throughout the match. Hence, opening batsman Azhar Ali and all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez decided to acknowledge the loyalty of the fans.

International Cricket Council (ICC) tweeted a video where Hafeez and Ali are seen praising the fans. “Pakistan fans are among the most passionate in the world! ❤️ #CT17

“It is all about the fans. They always follow you. They always want you to do well. They always want your team to win the games. It is always nice to fulfill their expectations, as a player, as a team. I always work hard for that and I hope that we always as a team, try our level best to give the best to the fans to enjoy,” said the experienced campaigner Hafeez. “I believe it is the love of the people. They are very passionate. I believe that if i can fulfill those expectations, what they demand from me, I feel I am a hero,” he further added.

“Pakistani fans are hard to please”

Opener Azhar Ali was the lone warrior with the bat against India. “Pakistani fans are always very passionate. It is hard to please them. But once we do well, it is the best feeling. Cricket is one of the things which brings a lot of happiness in our country. So, it is a lot of expectation from our cricket. So, we would love to give as much as wins for them because at recent past the things has been not really well. So, we would love to do well in this tournament and make them happy,” said Azhar.
