Five half-centuries in his first 9 ODIs meant that Pakistan had finally unearthed a batting talent they were searching from a long time. That shining light in the dark alley of Pakistani ODI batting is Babar Azam. He couldn’t replicate his form on the Ireland and England tour but against West Indies in the UAE, it seemed that he has regained his lost touch.
In the opening game, Babar Azam posted his first international century; A knock of 120 against a rather crooked bowling attack, which was bettered in the very next ODI, with an even flamboyant innings of 123. Centuries in consecutive innings meant that Babar Azam is now the 10th Pakistani to score back-to-back ODI centuries.
Asian Bradman Zaheer Abbass was the first Pakistani to score back-to-back ODI centuries when he scored three in three ODIs stretching across 6 months, followed by Rameez Raja and Inzamam-ul-Haq who scored 2 in two each. Saeed Anwar then scored three centuries in three ODIs in three days at Sharjah.
Saeed Anwar since then repeated the feat a total of 4 times, scoring twice in back-to-back ODIs the next three times. Mohammad Yousuf is the other Pakistani to repeat this feat more than once (twice). The rest eight have done it once in their careers.
Here is the list of Pakistanis with back-to-back centuries in consecutive ODIs:
