CT Stats: Highest partnerships for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL

Kolkata Knight Riders openers Gautam Gambhir and Chris Lynn entered the record books by registering the highest partnership stand for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL history. Playing against the Gujarat Lions in IPL 10, the duo amassed an unbeaten 184 run stand for the 1st wicket. They helped their side thump the opposition by 10 wickets.

They broke the previous best partnership stand of an unbeaten 153 runs shared by Robin Uthappa and Manish Pandey. They had put on the the then record stand against the Dolphins, of the South African domestic circuit, during the Champions League in 2014.  Gambhir was also involved in another 150-plus stand earlier in the 2011 edition of the IPL.

He shared an unbeaten 152 run stand against the Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur. Kallis, who was a prolific run getter for the Kolkata Knight Riders, had a brilliant 136 run stand with Manvinder Bisla back in the 2012 edition of the IPL. Interestingly, it was the finals of the IPL that year and the stand had seen the Knight Riders lift the trophy that year.

Lynn and Gambhir recently took special liking to the Gujarat Lions recently. It seems that the Knights fancy their chances against the Lions. Two of their batsmen, Shakib Al Hasan and Yusuf Pathan, had shared a marathon unbeaten 134 run stand against the Gujarat Lions last year. However, that stand had gone in vain as the Knight Riders had succumbed to a defeat that season.

The 2014 edition of the IPL was the best for the Kolkata Knight Riders as they registered multiple century run stands that year. No wonder that they emerged victorious in the tournament. Kallis and Manish Pandey had put on 131 against Mumbai Indians. Openers of 2014 edition, Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir, added 121 against the Rajasthan Royals.

Also, Uthappa shared 121 run stand with Shakib Al Hasan in another match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
