Match Details:

The 3rd match of the Ford Trophy 2020 will be played between Canterbury and Wellington at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch.

This match is scheduled to start at 11:00 AM Local Time, 03:30 AM IST.

Preview:

The Ford Trophy of the 2020-21 season is all set to commence from this Sunday. Canterbury will host Wellington for the first match of their campaign at the Hagley Oval. Canterbury Leo Carter has been handed the captaincy in absence of Cole McConchie. Tom Latham and Henry Nicholls availability will make them a lot stronger in comparison to the opposition. They finished second in the points table last season with five wins in ten games. However, they have a balanced batting and bowling line-up which makes them the favorites for this game. Canterbury hasn’t won any 50 over the game against Wellington in the last 5 games. They would like to break this losing streak and get underway the season with a win.

On the other side, Wellington finished fifth in the points table last season. Except for Conway, no one really stepped up for the team consistently. They will be led by Michael Bracewell who can win them matches with his all-round abilities. However, they will be without some of the big names like Tom Blundell, DP Conway, and Jimmy Neesham as they are playing for NZ. Overall, it is a good mixture of experience and youth in their squad. The new addition of James Hartshorn will be one of the key moments everyone must look for.

CTB vs WEL Weather Report for Match 3:

The weather forecast shows some early morning showers which are expected to stop till the match time. The temperature will be around with no rain throughout the day.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The pitch at the Hagley Oval had changed a lot in the last two years. It used to be a high scoring venue. But the pitch changed a lot during the second innings last season. Anything around 280 is easily defendable in the second innings. The team winning the toss would like to bat first on this fresh wicket and considering the weather as well.

Average first innings score:

304 (Last five 50 over matches played at this venue)

Chasing team’s record:

Won: 0, Lost: 5, Tied: 0
