'Dad will definitely treat them' - Washington Sundar reacts to Wasim Jaffer's hilarious '3 idiots' meme

Wasim Jaffer, the former Indian cricketer, had a hilarious message after Washington Sundar was left stranded on 96 in the fourth and final Test against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The left-handed Sundar couldn’t get to his century after the lower-order batsmen were unable to show any sort of resilience in the first innings of the last Test.

However, Sundar’s knock helped India win by an innings and 25 runs and also took the team to the final of the World Test Championship against Kane Williamson’s New Zealand. Among the lower-order batsmen were Axar Patel, Ishant Sharma, and Mohammed Siraj. Jaffer shared a meme from the Aamir Khan-starrer ‘3 idiots’, released back in 2009.

Jaffer captioned the picture and wrote, “Axar, Ishant and Siraj next time they meet Washington’s father at a function. But seriously this 96* is no less than a hundred, very well played @Sundarwashi5 #INDvENG.”

Later, Sundar also reverted with a hilarious message. He replied to Jaffer and wrote, “Thanks a lot bhaiya! Dad will definitely treat them with a lot of biryani and Halwa!”

Earlier, M Sundar, Washington Sundar’s father, showed his displeasure over the tail-enders not being able to support Sundar. He also reckoned that they should have been able to play out Ben Stokes, who wasn’t bowling at full throttle.

“What I am really disappointed about are the tail-enders. They couldn’t stay on for even a brief while. Suppose India were playing, needing 10 runs to win, wouldn’t this have been a huge mistake. There are millions of youngsters watching, they shouldn’t learn what the tail-enders did,” his father was quoted as saying in News 18.

“It is not about technique or skills. It was a matter of courage. England were tired, Stokes was bowling at 123-126. They were not bowling at lethal pace,” he added.

Sundar scored two half-centuries in the series and played at an average of over 90. He didn’t have much to do with the ball as Axar and Ravi Ashwin did most of the work. He made his debut back in January against Australia in the Gabba Test.
