It was once again the time of the year when Cricket South Africa awarded the best of its players a well-deserved accolade. The awards vary from the Cricketer of the year to more specific awards such as Test Cricketer of the Year, ODI Cricketer of the year and much more.

Right-arm pacer Kagiso Rabada swept home six out of nine awards possible on the night, with the other going to Aiden Markram, AB de Villiers and David Miller. The six awards included Cricketer of the Year, Test Cricketer of the Year, ODI Cricketer of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year, Fans’ Player of the Year and Delivery of the Year.

AB de Villiers, who is a genuine fan favourite when it comes to T20 format, walked home with the T20 International Cricketer of the year. Always Original, which is one of the unique awards in the gala was given to the left-handed David Miller.

The International Newcomer Award, which is one of the most-coveted awards for a newbie player was given to the opener Aiden Markram.

The winners were announced at a function in Sandton on Saturday evening. Right-armed Kagiso Rabada is also currently the No.1 bowler in Test cricket, and previously had dominated the award gala in the previous year.

Dale Steyn’s wishes for Kagiso Rabada

In 2016, the right-handed bowler became the first to get six awards in a single gala and has once again picked up six in the gala in 2017.

Fellow right-arm pacer Dale Steyn congratulated the World No.1 bowler on Twitter following his six-award stint.

“Congrats to all the nominees and especially the winners tonight at the CSA awards.
KG, as a player you raise the bar for all of us. Never lose that hunger, it takes us all to newer heights. Deserved winner tonight my friend 👊🏼” tweeted Dale Steyn after the Gala ceremony.
