After months of speculations regarding the date of the return for ‘Phalaborwa Express’- Dale Steyn, it was conclusively announced that premier fast bowler is set to bowl in South Africa’s domestic T20 competition Ram Slam T20 Challenge.

The last time cricket saw the ‘Steyn Gun’ in action was almost one year back in 2016 during the Perth Test match of the South African tour of Australia. Steyn sustained a shoulder injury during the Test match and has been recuperating from his injury since.

It was expected that Steyn would make a comeback in the Test series against Bangladesh. However, things didn’t pan out the way everyone thought it would. His date of the comeback was then postponed to the start of the inaugural edition of T20 Global League.

Thereafter, due to logistical and financial issues, the date of the entire tournament was rescheduled and the Ram Slam T20 Challenge was adjusted to cover up for the window created by the T20 Global League.

One of the major sources of attraction for the tournament would be the return of their premier fast bowler.  However, the fans have to wait a little bit longer to see the pacer. According to reports from Sports24, Dale Steyn would not take part in the game against Highveld Lions for the Titans.

Instead, he would return on November 17 when the Titans take on the Knights at Kimberley. The Titans then take on the Warriors a couple of days later at East London. The T20 event would remain crucial for Steyn as it would stage his return to International Cricket.

Steyn should then arrive in contention for the historic Boxing Day Test against Zimbabwe in Port Elizabeth, which scheduled to be the first four-day, Day-Night Test match. Following the Test match, India land on the shores of South Africa for a 3-match Test, 6-match ODI, and a 3-match T20 tour.
