There is no doubt that Dale Steyn is one the greatest fast bowlers of not only of his generation but also one of the all-time greats. The former Test bowling spearhead, Steyn is not only the leading wicket-taker for his country but he also boasts of one of the greatest strike-rates for a fast bowler. However, the last few years has seen the stock of the champion fast bowler fall substantially thanks to the recurring nature of his injuries.

And, so in a bid to prolong his cricketing career, the champion fast bowler announced his retirement from the longest format of the game earlier this year. Since then the fast bowler has been plying his trade in T20 leagues. After having a successful Mzansi Super League campaign, the right-handed fast bowler was due to make his Big Bash League debut for the Melbourne Stars before an unfortunate injury delayed his campaign.

However, on the same day where he was ruled out of his maiden BBL clash, Steyn had a roller-coaster ride in the IPL auctions., After going unsold in the initial rounds, the champion fast bowler was finally racked up by his previous franchise- Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Steyn will once again be reuniting with his favorite batsmen AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli. On Saturday, Steyn was having a Q/A session with his fans on Twitter where one of the fans asked him about his three favorite batsmen. And, Steyn was quick to name Quinton de Kock, Virat Kohli, and AB de Villiers as his top 3.

Dale Steyn names Pat Cummins as his favorite fast bowler

Another question that one of the fans asked Steyn about his favorite fast bowler in the current lot. Steyn has, in the past, publically admitted about his admiration for Pat Cummins, and he took no time in taking his name as the answer to the fan’s question.

“It takes supreme athletes to bowl fast for five days in five Test matches. That is a heavy workload. I think Cummins is amazing. He is so fit and so strong. He is ridiculous. And, he is one of my favorite bowlers right now. A heavy workload at the World Cup, straight into an Ashes series. It was probably a good thing to give the guys a Test match off here or there. In Australia’s case, it worked off,” Dale Steyn had said about Cummins as quoted by the Sydney Morning Herald earlier this year.

Steyn had a rather cheeky answer. The right-hander while referring to the Brobdingnagian pay-check that Cummins will get from his franchise, said, Pat Cummins, he can buy all the drinks”
